The duo exhibition Signs in Space presents a subtle dialogue between Mihai Țăruș and Maria-Patricia Lupașcu, two artists who explore, each in their distinct manner, the complexity and potential of form. Approaching the concept of deconstruction not as a mere dismantling but as a subtle process of revealing hidden meanings, the two artists manage to transform everyday forms and familiar symbols into profoundly reflective visual experiences.

TEXT CURATORIAL

The duo exhibition Signs in Space presents a subtle dialogue between Mihai Țăruș and Maria-Patricia Lupașcu, two artists who explore, each in their distinct manner, the complexity and potential of form. Approaching the concept of deconstruction not as a mere dismantling but as a subtle process of revealing hidden meanings, the two artists manage to transform everyday forms and familiar symbols into profoundly reflective visual experiences.

Mihai Țăruș approaches form through a non-figurative register, freeing it from any direct reference and transforming it into a field of chromatic and gestural tensions. His paintings are not just visual compositions but vibrant territories where form becomes fluid, capable of being reinterpreted in countless ways. Through broad gestures and successive layers of color, Țăruș explores the subtle relationships between fullness and emptiness, between materiality and ephemerality. In this vision, abstraction becomes a sophisticated language through which the artist questions the limits of perception and representation.

On the other hand, Maria-Patricia Lupașcu builds her artistic discourse starting from an in-depth investigation of the materiality and functionality of forms. Her project My Casa Mare represents a reinterpretation of traditional domestic objects, which she deconstructs and recomposes through a subtle alchemy of textures and volumes. The use of fabric molds for creating ceramic objects is not just a technical innovation but also a metaphor for the process of layering meanings. Each object created by Lupașcu is a hybrid between functionality and symbolism, a purified form that nevertheless retains the imprint of a collective memory and a profound aesthetic sensibility.

Signs in Space is, in essence, a meditation on the nature of form—on its ability to communicate beyond appearances and to regenerate constantly through disintegration and reconstruction. The exhibition invites the viewer to rethink the relationships between form and space, between the visible and the invisible. Through this subtle dialogue between painting and object, Mihai Țăruș and Maria-Patricia Lupașcu demonstrate that the true essence of form does not reside in its outer contours but in its ability to suggest, to question, and to reveal new layers of meaning.
